Take Some Time For Some Sunshine Sometimes

Yesterday was another day that went from big time productive sounding to somehow we’re at the park eating Portuguese chicken.

I got home at 5 AM doing Uber Driver and by the time I woke up and was ready for my day I was off. MCO hit me up and invited me to the BBQ they were having and Bonnie and Chris were free. We don’t do a lot of general chilling and it’s definitely my fault.

That being said, we went to Lafontaine Park to have some fun in the sun. To break the tedium of grind and routine. Personally I’m trying to strike a new balance between work and play in this no days off universe.

Even though yesterday did not yield the results I was hoping for, I woke up feeling refreshed today.

This weekend was the most social I’ve been in ages (in Montreal) and I’m glad we were outside.

It’s okay to take some time off when you really out there hustling

In truth I see chilling moments as an investment in people.

Bonnie loves going to the park and being outside. I never really take her. So this was a fun opportunity to spend some quality time doing stuff that is not me sitting in front of my computer while Netflix plays something.

The problem with my work schedule is I’m so busy Bonnie didn’t even really feel it when I was gone in Puerto Rico, it was just another week.

You need to stop the grind for your loved ones should you be blessed enough to have them.

Those are investments an older you will cherish as time shows you that the people matter the most.

Still, who says a BBQ isn’t a chance to network.

Everywhere you go there’s the potential to meet new people to build with

I got to chill with people who I normally don’t talk to at events.

It’s not like we’re distant, it’s just that as time goes on and people clique up with familiarity, we’ve never been in the same space to really chill. It was nice to forge some new bongs with some new folk who are in the scene. Plus I got to give out my card to a few new people who were interested in what I was up to.

There’s a big difference between social media interactions and looking someone in the eye and discussing your projects.

A lot of my peers talk about how they are outside, and that’s how they grow. As time goes on I realize that being at a park (of which I pulled up with a giant speaker), is a good way to meet people organically. People that as you see at future events can turn into new friends and peers.

Plus it was nice to break the norm and do something different.

We even waited 45 minutes in line for Portuguese chicken.

Everything that’s late can be done when it gets done, build some memories

I spent too much time this year being vacant from social stuff.

This weekend I went to three events and found each inspiring in their own way. Each one gave me some insight into better art. Most importantly it was nice.

My life still has a lot of chores and adventures ahead of me. It’s going to be a long time before I hit the balance I am looking for. There are many days where I will need to push it doing boring logistics. Especially as festival application season approaches.

Chore by chore I will get closer to my goals. In the meantime I need to remember to stop and smell the flowers.

It’s good for the soul.

Live Long and Prosper Everyone
