Looks Like I’m Going To Spend My Birthday Working

Uber lets you know Tuesday evening if you are lucky enough to get a “Quest” bonus that weekend.

Today I found out I get the privilege to make an additional 300$ this weekend if I truly hustle. The clocks go back an hour, so there’s a whole extra hour waiting for me. My birthday is literally the day the clocks go back.

Sunday November 3rd, I get a 25 hour birthday, there are about 7 days worth of people who will ever get to make that claim in North America. I’ll be spending mine driving people and food for money.

It’s unfortunate to have to work on my birthday but the truth is I kind of need to make a lot of money and this is a great path forward.

If all goes well I’ll have exciting news to announce soon, this birthday bonus will help.

My priorities have evolved from when I was younger

At one point in my life I made a vow to never work on my birthday again.

This is the first year I believe I am breaking that vow in a long time. I’d love nothing more than to sit there and play video games all day. Go do some fun dinner things.

Instead this is a fat opportunity on probably a fat money making weekend. People will be out there partying and I will be out there driving them where they need to go. The end result of this is probably pulling double what I would have otherwise made in a weekend, if I really hustle even more.

This is not a virtue of the bonus. These Uber bonuses are about making you put more hours in. So instead of trying to waste time on my birthday, I can do that later on, after making the money that exists now.

A younger me would have let ego get in the way. Now I have an expensive life and credit card debt I’m trying to lower. Soon I’ll have taxes and car expenses to deal with.

My birthday evening will probably be chill but that money needs to be made.

I’ve tasted the littyyy life and I want more of it

Sitting there having a day off is a cool idea but I want the freedom to make moves.

I really take the time to stop and appreciate things when I’m chilling in moments of victory. Like sitting on a couch post show with a booty in my face or on a Puerto Rican rooftop looking at the ocean. These experiences cost money to achieve, and at the end of the day I want to be out there more than I care about relaxing.

I clocked thousands of hours in my life chilling and playing video games. At this juncture, I want to be out there killing it and making money. I want to keep buying the things I need to improve my life and being able to spend 8$ on a pre-made caesar salad without tripping.

I had fun sending Basics 5$ for no reason other than to flex on him. I suppose I’m down to drive someone 12 minutes to flex on Basics is what I’m saying. We all have our priorities.

If when push comes to shove turning 37 means working really hard, then so be it.

When I turn 38 I’m sure I’ll be thanking me for the effort.

My goals matter more than the immediate gratification

Many of you are out there with stable lives and are chugging along comfortably.

I’m tired of living under the weight of debt. I’ve made that weight a lot smaller and I feel amazing. My credit score has gone up so much this year that I am beyond motivated.

It feels a lot like the sacrifice of exercising and eating healthier. If I put the extra work in now, the later on version of me has a better life. Based on averages I’m hitting the halfway point now. I need to consider what it will be like as my body degrades and my ability to hustle like this fails.

I know I still have a couple of decades of grind in me, but one day it just won’t be like that. I do not want to be an old man, incapable of figuring out my future, relying on welfare.

So I need to go work on my birthday to make sure that I hit my goals. It sucks but overall I think I’m a better person for it. Even though it sucks.

Who knows, maybe by 3:00 PM on Sunday my goals will be achieved and I can have a chill evening.

If I write less blogs this weekend you know why.
