#NOREGARD Is Opening For Lloyd Banks in Montreal July 3, 2024

lloyd banks in montreal july 3 2023 flyer

Looks like I got sucked right back into the ticket selling grind. I’ll be honest I was feeling some FOMO watching everyone perform at stuff. Now #NOREGARD (JS, Chris and Myself) will do a set opening for Lloyd Banks in Montreal on July 3. We have some tickets to flip, but 4 months is a good amount of time.

Meanwhile DMS posted their tag an artist you want to see perform post. Nobody tagged me. While I’ve performed a lot, I haven’t dropped any new music in awhile and arguably, I’m pretty antisocial these days. I’m not going to be going to a lot of events as I work on paying for my life.

Part of paying for my life is paying engineers to mix things. There is a new project coming and unfortunately, doing it right, it costs money. There is a new single that is just about ready. Visuals are underway and today I’ll post another flower pic.

This is a beautiful opportunity to test out campaigns

In order for us to make some money off this, we need to sell a good amount of tickets. For all the rah rahing out there, anything you do to market these ticket sales, should also help you get new fans. When we hit our sales target, I will 100% be telling future promoters we accomplished that.

To achieve our goal, we are going to employ a social media influencer styled strategy. While I won’t go into specifics yet, as we are just brainstorming at this point, the ideas we are cooking up will give us experience points in other domains. We’ll be able to create video content, and explore creative ways to promote this Llloyd Banks show.

Before going on an offensive, harassing everyone we know to get sales, there has got to be a way to advertise we are dope, and we’ll be at the show too. I see this as an opportunity to go out there and capture some data. As we test things, I am going to measure results, documenting how people react to different ideas. We’ll aim to do more of what works, and start building a foundation for future optimization.

When you look at the world of content marketing, sales can be a very inbound game. Traditionally we think of outbound experiences, aggressive tactics and being annoying. Another approach is to be flashy and shiny and interesting, so people click through to see who we are. Then if we are smart, we make it real easy for them to buy tickets.

Opening for Lloyd Banks in Montreal is chance to make noise

What I’ve written over the last year is the best music of my career. JS and I have songs just sitting there, that are fire. For the first time in my career there is a bank of music the world hasn’t seen. It’s not as deep as I want, but by the end of this year I will have a lot more music recorded. It may not all come out, but when you come see me perform, you are going to get curated experiences.

I’ve clearly done a bad job of getting people in my corner. Instead of being a whiner, I’m going to actively do something about it. A lot of this blog may come off like talking about plans, but I’m using this blog to focus my thoughts to move the plan forward. I believe in transparency and want people to see that what we are developing isn’t random.

The Notion page I started for this campaign already got a list of things we can execute. By attacking this from different angles, we will show people our creative side. We’ll make some quality stuff that will capture attention. While I can’t be certain how many people want to see Lloyd Banks, what matters is that people know he’s coming to town and that we, #NOREGARD a name you barely know, are opening that night.

We need to introduce who we are to the world. We need to explain what we are about. Then people who may or may not buy tickets, may or may not also become fans of us.

I’m just trying to be like Wu-Tang

I’ve read a few Wu-Tang bios now. Consistently a motif is that hard work wins. You need to be able to sell your brand to people. It’s also on you to do it, people are waiting for you to prove you can. The Wu-Tang Clan would pull up to events 300 deep. My understanding is partly that it was a safety component to leaving Staten Island in those days.

Still, if 300 people are hitting a venue. They are all there buying drinks. They fill out a crowd. They know the words to your song and are there repping your team. Well, when you have that impact, your name on a flyer means something.

I’m confident I can get 20 people in a room if I hustle real hard and make it really appealing. Squadding up we can increase the size of that posse. The main takeaway I have from the different Wu stories is nothing is fair. You really do need to go fight and create the opportunities for yourself. Regardless of anything else, we are opening for Lloyd Banks of G-Unit. We’ll get to meet the dude and that’s another memory we’ll have.

I can’t tell you if accepting opportunities like this, with the work it requires is worth it or a good idea. I see a lot of opinions online. For me, it’s an opportunity to flex my marketing muscle and see what I’m capable of. I have absolute faith that in 3 months, the #NOREGARD team will be a lot stronger for the exercise.

Whatever you do in life is about the PRSPCTVS you take on. While I appreciate the chance to open for someone like Lloyd Banks, I’m more excited to have a focus for content efforts. As Travis Bryant let it be known, I’m a dork. So I’ma dork up and make that nerd money.
