I Got The New iPhone 16 Pro Max … Here Is My Story

Once upon a time I decided to be a Samsung Galaxy guy.

I wanted a competitive phone, on a technical level, and I wanted the ability to hack games via their APK files. I joined the post keyboard smartphone wave with my very own Samsung Galaxy S3. Then I had a S4, followed by an S6, and up the numbers went.

I’m pretty sure I sold the S4 when I got the S6 so that was a win.

Mostly I would lose my phones and have to get new ones. At least one of the phones I got off Kijiji and it worked out. Some unlocked, possibly stolen but hopefully not situation.

Inevitably I wanted to switch to Apple and I had the Galaxy S20 fully paid off but I lost it 2 months before the iPhone 14 came out. I replaced it with an S22 based on phone deals and finally paid that one off. I’m sitting here with two phones with proper cameras feeling cool at the moment.

My newest baby is the iPhone 16 Pro Max

And then my texts turned blue…

I think the most jarring part of switching over is the clear point in a text thread when the green texts turn blue.

I’ve never even encountered this before as an Android user with customized themes that let me colour things to my heart's content. Now I see that IOS is shaming me for my past green texts. But also it apparently plays nice with fancier green text features these days.

I am having a melodramatically stated miserable time getting familiar with the new phone. Embracing my age and struggling to fight my habits, I keep forgetting that the volume is now on the left side. I got my action button set to Shazam. I have a mess of apps to organize. I cannot remember where to swipe to get anything done.

However as I accidentally fumble around I understand why people like Apple.

Things are done in a way where when you see what Apple is showing you, it just makes sense as a good way to do it.

Maybe I’m talking shit, there’s at least one thing I saw that’s different.

The Uber Driver app no longer floats over the screen for quick access

I didn’t realize the feature that lets one app stay open as an overlay on top of another app was some Android stuff.

I’m going to have to get used to switching to the Uber Driver app, however Apple people do it fast. It won’t be a little circle floating around anymore. Otherwise I’m not sure what functionality I’m gaining or losing.

I have not tapped into the Apple ecosystem and seen how it works. I don’t know how to quickly navigate IOS yet. I just know this floating app thing is different.

Waze also looks different now on my car. I’ll have to get used to a new series of buttons and options. Change is change and so far I don’t have complaints about it. I’m just adjusting.

What did suck was my first IG live on the phone. Right out the box, no settings touched. The video was so janky it looked like I enabled Earthquake mode. Thankfully I could not repeat it. In fact, filming content looks sick.

Plus I got myself a new gimbal.

Two phones gives me hella potential for the future of content

Now plenty of people love to hit me with the, “I’m on my old phone, I have no need to upgrade to the new phone”.

That’s great for you, persons (there are many) who said that to me. I instead struggle between choices like Tik Tok or IG live. Now I can do both.

I can set up one phone as a static cam and use the other one, my actual phone, for more intimate on stage footage live footage when performing at shows. While I could buy a whole second camera, I’m not trying to be a photographer like that. I’m trying to stream live to multiple social media accounts at once and have choices.

You could get multiple PRSPCTVS depending on where you follow me, all with a single hotspot from the iPhone. Even better if they have wifi.

The gimbal also works great with the iPhone. My future footage will be much better than anything I’ve shot before.

Anyway I don’t know if I made a good choice but I look forward to airdropping for the first time.

Live Long and Prosper Everyone
