Here’s Some Low Cost Social Media Campaign Ideas I have While I Get Organized

This article is me brainstorming some content campaign ideas I have.

End of the day if you want me to help you with content strategy leading to a content calendar of recurring, easy to produce content hit me up. I’ll even show you how to tell when things are actually impressive or not. I’ve seen what 5 figure ad budgets look like from the perspective of someone responsible for organic community building.

I can’t tell you about what keywords to use but I can help you finesse those efforts with great insight driven from your community. Anyway I need to flex more for clients on this blog so to my readers, expect a bit more of this.

Here’s some stuff marinating in my noggin I need to write down.

Non-Perishable Food Item Guide For CY’s Charity Show On Dec 7th

Look at me using today’s article to advertise an upcoming performance.

CY is doing his annual charity concert showcase at Blue Dog. The price of admission is a non-perishable food item. It’s a pretty straightforward affair.

My idea, which I’m filming for after I publish this article, is to go to several grocery stores. Then I will film different food items with my phone. Maybe 6 items per video. Each video needs unique items. Then grab 4-6 seconds vertically of each food item in my hand, so I need the gimbal on me.

I’ll grab some B-Roll outside of the grocery store. Maybe 2-3 shots that get sequentially closer. As each shot brings you into the store I’ll have text like this on the screen:Here is the official guide for how to pick a non-perishable food item for CY’s Charity Event at Blue Dog on Dec 7

Honestly it may be worth putting that at the end with modified text and testing both versions.

The rest of the video is me flashing food items for 3-4 seconds that tell people if it’s perishable or not.

I’ll make 3-4 of them based on how much I film and run it all week while playing Bonjour-Hi underneath each video.

Which leads me to the next campaign.

Bonjour-Hi, here’s a little slice of my past

I know this song will need some repetition in people’s brains to work.

So I need to give people a reason to keep watching content where I use Bonjour-Hi as the music in the video. I was driving a passenger by the apartment where I grew up as a kid and I realized there’s an idea in sharing who I am. Something I’ve criticized other artists for not doing.

So here’s the campaign. I go to different key places from my past. Here’s a short list:

  • Apartment on Cranbrooke where I grew up.

  • Spot in deep CSL where we lived when I was real young.

  • Mini-Cout - I was banned for life from there after shoplifting some stuff.

  • EBS - My elementary school

  • Wagar High School - My high school

  • John Abbott College - My cegep

  • Concordia - The university I dropped out of.

  • The police station in CSL - it used to be the restaurant where my aunt met my uncle and that led to my beautiful cousin Kayla who’s a seriously talented dancer.

Anyway I got wild memories and I never share that stuff with y’all. Given the song is called “Bonjour-Hi” I felt we could play off of what JS did with introducing himself in his verse. I’ll record like 20-25 of these in different places that hold meaning to me.

Stuff like:

  • The RMR on St Catherine where I was in Air cadets.

  • Pushap on Pare that fed me with 2$ samosas in my poor call center days

  • The location on St Hubert that used to be the CFC where I did my first show.

I’m going to flush that list out more later but this song is fundamentally about us being Montreal to the core. I wanted to share my memories with you so you can see I’m really Montreal like that. Meanwhile the song plays under each time slowly getting stuck in your head as you get to go through this time capsule.

Also I have to share Elmhurst & St Jacques where I lived when I started taking music seriously in 2012.

Reacting to language politics content & rhetoric to plug Bonjour-Hi

End of the day there’s viral moments to be had in conflict and the song is related to the plight of the anglo Quebecor.

I want this campaign to be reactionary in nature but strategic in its output. The goal is to react to every piece of content that I can find that triggers me in any way, related to Legault’s Pro French language budget or Quebecors wilding on English people with silly opinions.

Then we going straight into reaction land. I’ll play the preposterous part of a video and then go off on a 60 second rant. Something refined. Something that manages to say something like:

And this is why we recorded bonjour-hi. I know a lot of you think we’re making things up but naw, here’s what it is.

My goal is twofold. I want to get salty old anglos to prop me up and intelligent pro-Quebec pro-French types to argue facts and logic on why Quebec has to do something. These two groups will tear each other apart in my comments once the algorithm smells blood.

This campaign is going to focus around how my birth certificate is blue and white too. You can disagree with me, but you can’t deny that I’m just as Quebec as you. Meanwhile I’m going to have Bonjour-Hi playing in each one.

Hopefully people even make stitches back at me reacting, pushing the song reach even further.

Anyway, none of these ideas will cost me any money and I think they’ll be easy to produce.

If you need help with your campaigns please let me know.

Live Long and Prosper Everyone
