ChatGPT May Become The Best Friend Of Rambly Ranters

Yesterday I drove about 2 and a half hours to record a song from the perspective of a country snake lost in the city.

No ChatGPT did not help me with that, but I went with the ChatGPT hater homie Rene. He had given me a long diatribe about why ChatGPT was useless. I was like, broski I don’t really think you understand it.

Recently ChatGPT added a new feature for paid users where you can literally talk to it.

Given we were trapped in a car with much highway to drive, I loaded up the voice chat feature and started talking.

I asked ChatGPT to justify why it’s useful. Then we made it come up with movie scripts featuring Rene working with ChatGPT to fight aliens. Finally we landed at more specific use cases to his life and Rene saw the light.

Chat GPT can help people brainstorm and organize.

When you need to bounce an idea off someone and no one’s free, there is ChatGPT

Recently ChatGPT launched a memory feature.

It will basically take the time to get to know you and your preferences. You can thankfully manage the things it remembers but big picture it can help customize your outputs. This is useful if you want to use ChatGPT to help you with a project.

Now that you can do this while driving it’s kind of a game changer.

You can load up the feature in a new or existing chat (existing ones will have past context, new ones are fresh slates).

Then you can start talking.

You can let ChatGPT know a top level video of what you want to discuss. Then ChatGPT will answer you. It’s a good idea to start by asking ChatGPT what information it needs from you to help.

Then you can verbally tell ChatGPT the answers to each piece of information you need.

While you maybe cannot do everything with this voice chat, since you can review your entire conversation later, you can use ChatGPT to create summaries that are useful when you are back in front of a computer.

Still, having a machine fake interest in your ideas is going to save a lot of romantic partners a lot of boring listening.

ChatGPT can help you focus your ideas

A lot of us struggle from taking our complex visions and turning them into concise ideas.

We know what we want but we don’t know how to explain it. This is where ChatGPT comes in. With its infinite patience, the app can go back and forth with you, explaining things in new ways until all of a sudden you have a concise plan.

While there are probably things ChatGPT cannot know given its knowledge cutoffs, it knows enough to help you create a foundation.

It can help teach you how to create a business plan. It can explore a world of knowledge on nutrition and help you create a food plan based on what you like to eat. Soon it will have video integration and literally be able to see what you are wearing and offer fashion advice.

It knows its limits and when used correctly can offer you big insight on how to move forward.

This is all given the condition you are actually honest with the information you provide.

In order for ChatGPT to be fully useful, you need to take considerable time feeding it. You need to tell it who you are, what you want and then provide real examples for reference. Otherwise you are basically trusting a random machine to randomly guess correctly.

ChatGPT is really about nuance and context.

ChatGPT will introduce you to worlds beyond what you’ve done

At first the entire thing is overwhelming.

Then you start playing around with legitimate use cases in your life.

The next thing you know, ChatGPT is offering you code and giving you a tutorial on how to program an app. You just tell it what you want it to do, and then it generates code. It even generates instructions on what to do with that code.

If the steps are too complicated, it can literally simplify it to any knowledge level.

This beast is powerful and as more people use it, the sheer volume of content produced is going to skyrocket.

Once Dall-E (ChatGPTs image generator) learns how to spell, I will never need a designer again.

Okay maybe they have a better eye and I will still use designers, but it does give me way more autonomy.

ChatGPT can teach you how to analyze data and trends. It can show you how finance works. But it can also lie right to your face.

Let’s take a quick moment to discuss the threat.

ChatGPT doesn’t actually know anything

The tool scanned a lot of the internet and learned a vast amount of information.

Because of this, its capabilities are wild. It can write comedy in the style of George Carlin. It can generate an app that teaches you how to workout.

The problem is that along the way it can also make things up.

You cannot trust this tool blindly. I use it as something to generate captions based on inputs I give it. I use it to edit my existing work.

When it comes to its role as a fact checking teacher, it can be wrong. It can be wrong with all the confidence of a liar. It just doesn’t know any better.

It’s great for averages. Initial steps. Editorial advice.

It’s not a genius that you can trust when the stakes are on the line.

Maybe in the future that will come, but it’s not today.
