Ayo I Think I Got Scammed Buying Clothes Online

Thankfully I only spent 65$ on this purchase but the truth is I’m big time disappointed.

I saw one of those Facebook ads for what appeared to be a standard drop shipping site. I did not do my due diligence and check ahead of time on Reddit or any other source. I just saw these cool shirts and I put 3 of them into my cart.

I hit that 60$ free shipping threshold and plugged in my info.

In hindsight I suppose I just gave some foul agent out there my exact address. They appear to use a third party payment system that’s legit, so at least my full credit card information is masked.

Still they know where I live now. Whoever they are. People that got my hopes up looking for new clothing.

Also it’s pretty wild a company with the resources of Meta allows so many scammers on their site in 2024 with all their AI magic.

Always double check before buying things online from new sources

I guess this is common knowledge but I clearly let myself get caught lacking.

For the most part I do this. I check reddit and I make sure I find people arguing about the company. If there’s no Reddit posts, this is a bad sign.

Also this company called themselves “theramal”. When you Google that, your results are buried in stuff for “thermal”. This is super clever on behalf of the foul agents out there. They got me good. But also they found a way to brand their stuff while burying the negative results in a sea of unrelated.

I tried multiple variants of the term theramal. No matter what I tried, today, nothing came up.

The problem is now they have the money and it turns out the website is no longer online. I received no updates following my purchase and I already filed a dispute with their payment center. They never answered me.

Turns out I may have gotten scammed. Or not. We’ll see.

For the most part, trusted sources deliver on their promises

I am all about buying online.

This is the second time ever I got duped in an online purchase. The other time I bought fake Tiffany’s off an ad that cloned the site pretty good. However the fake Tiffany’s arrived and I realized I had fucked up.

Before you judge me, she got real Tiffany’s that year. We went to the store and everything. She has the earrings and stuff and wears them to fancier things.

When you check online and people cosign the company, then go for that purchase. You know they will deliver. Stuff may take awhile but it always comes.

Once you are in the groove of buying stuff online, Meta goes hard giving you appealing looking ads. In the back of my mind I guess I let my guard down because Meta is supposed to be vetting these companies. Instead I found myself buying from people who were not about that honest business.

Thankfully I used my credit card so I should be able to initiate a chargeback.

The point is online shopping is fine if you are due diligencing.

Now if they turn out to be legit, don’t sell things and leave people in the dark

I got a purchase confirmation right after the purchase.

This gave me a link to a place I could file a dispute. I filed one on October 6th and received an email that it was opened. When I check on the website for updates, it’s apparently still processing.

I want to leave a tiny sliver of hope this is just garbage management. That one day this week I go downstairs and there’s a package with my shirts. They were green and purple and cool AF.

In which case I guess I wasn’t scammed and this company is just mid. But the fact that the site I bought the clothing on is no longer functional is concerning. They stripped all the products off it and it’s just a shell of a site.

It does not instill confidence in me that they are legitimate folk.

Since I probably got scammed I figured I’d remind you all to be careful through my 65$ loss that may not be a loss after a chargeback.

There will always be the sadness that I never got those shirts.
