3 Reasons Why I’m Switching Over To Team iPhone

My Samsung S22 is fully paid off.
I’m in a position many of us in Canada face. Do we continue on with our current device, or lock ourselves in for two more years of elevated payments as we take on a new phone loan? From what I can see the iPhone 16 is coming out next month and I’m tempted to get that.
To be clear I want a new phone, I’m locking in, and with an iPhone.
Once the new one is out I’ll compare prices between the 15 and 16 and get myself a phone that will utilize Apple’s upcoming AI tools.
This feels like the end of a Samsung era and I wanted to share some reasons with you.
1 - The Clubhouse phenomenon could happen again
For a couple of good reasons a lot of app developers focus on the Apple ecosystem first.
They have a richer user base and less diversity in screen size. My understanding is that working with Apple as a dev is frustrating, but there have been many times over the last decade that certain apps will end up in an “Apple only” place for a while.
Clubhouse spent a solid 6 months in Apple land before us Android plebs could have it.
For all that time, only the Apple crowd had access. Given it’s a social media platform, that was popping, I was banned from, over classism, I realized I didn’t want to be in that situation again.
There likely won’t be an Android-only version of this phenomenon.
2 - Apple had a slick ecosystem that rewards its users
I always feel jealous watching Apple users Airdrop each other.
The Apple Watch is actually kind of sick. Apple TV is popping off with good shows. There are tons of iPhone accessories that enhance your phone experience. You can even track things for a year with the Apple AirTag.
There are definitely things that other brands have or other people may do better, but in general, Apple produces a wide variety of interconnected, and good, products.
When eyewear technology is cool, Apple will actually have a sick headset.
When we are looking at slick AI shit down the line, Apple will likely have physical products worth owning.
Plus Airpods speak for themselves, literally.
3- Apple is a status symbol of wealth
Vain as it may be, if you got Apple gear, you are likely richer than the Android person.
Even if the phones cost the same, the rest of the lives of each camp don’t look the same. It’s probably true there are plenty of rich Android users, but the different brands have cultivated lifestyles around their products. They spent a decade differentiating their users.
Someone seeing I’m wearing an Apple Watch, knows I have an iPhone. They know I can Facetime and do all the other mythical Apple stuff. It’s just a way to communicate status easier.
If you can afford it, why fight it.
